Finding a new job can be a time-consuming task. Andy Hillier asks the experts how to take the pain out of the search.

Not so long ago, searching for vacancies in the children's and youth sector could take weeks, if not months. While some senior posts were advertised in national newspapers, more junior roles tended to be posted in specialist newsletters, local newspapers or job noticeboards. Coming across relevant jobs was as much a case of luck as judgment.

But now there's a variety methods that are helping to ease, and potentially speed up, job hunting for children's and youth professionals.

David Pyle is communications manager for recruitment consultancy The Synergy Group, which helps employers to fill social care vacancies. He believes signing up to an agency can take the legwork out of job hunting.
