This is an excellent book that links learning and behaviour, via the term "learning behaviour". The use of this term seeks to demonstrate that promoting learning and managing behaviour should not be seen as separate issues. The need for ongoing evaluation of policy and practice against their purpose for individuals is a key theme within the book.
The book attempts to make a critical assessment of the appropriateness and effectiveness of particular strategies in the classroom. It recognises that learning and behaviour are intrinsically linked. It was pleasing to read that the authors understand that teaching is about relationships. Where classroom relationships between adults and young people are positive, trusting and professional there is a greater chance of well-managed behaviour.
