Beccie Mannall handles three projects in Cornwall: a mentoring and advocacy scheme; a participation programme and an intervention service.

What does your job entail?

I currently handle three projects in Cornwall: a mentoring and advocacy scheme; a participation programme and an intervention service. This is a £500,000 a year contract with Cornwall County Council to provide support and advice for parents and their children. As well as organising staff on these projects, my role involves networking to find out about gaps and partnership opportunities, and tendering for other projects.

How did you get into this job?

I'm a trained social worker and previously worked in local authority residential services. I've had dealings with Barnardo's in the past and it was an organisation that I always had a lot of respect and admiration for. I'm from Cornwall and was looking for a chance to get back here, so this job was ideal.
