Essentially a very high-energy version of a seaview walk, coasteering involves scrambling, climbing, walking and swimming along a coastline. It can be done as a half-day or full-day activity in spots all over the British coast.
Groups are given a safety briefing by their guide, kitted out with helmets, buoyancy aids and wetsuits, then travel along the coast, clambering in and out of caves, inlets and coves. Where the rocks fall away, participants have no choice but to jump into the sea from heights of between one and 10 metres, swimming to the next part of the cliff and getting swept up in the surf.
