Project
Energise
Funding
About £1,400 per young person from a partnership of six social investors, managed by not-for-profit organisation Social Finance
Background
Young people disengaged from learning at 14 and 15 are more likely to end up Neet (not in education, employment or training). The Department for Work and Pensions' Innovation Fund pays a return to social investors for projects that successfully re-engage young people. Thames Valley advice and guidance charity Adviza took this opportunity to create a personal development programme for 14 and 15-year-olds.
Action
Energise was launched in October 2012. It is offered to schools in Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Milton Keynes with a high concentration of at-risk young people, such as young offenders, young carers, care leavers and substance misusers.
