New president of the Association of Directors of Children’s Services (ADCS) Steve Crocker has taken up his presidency at a pivotal time for the sector.

His presidential reception, where he revealed plans to lobby for a review of children’s mental health services, coincided with the publication of the schools white paper and the SEND (special educational needs and disabilities) green paper.

He also takes the baton just weeks before the expected publication of the long-awaited Independent Review of Children’s Social Care.

The director of children’s services at Hampshire County Council and Isle of Wight Council counts the implementation of this “trio of major reports” top of his list of priorities for the year.
