
Pearce has led children’s services in Durham since September 2019.
He previously led both children and adult social services at South Tyneside Council and has held the role of acting director for children, families and wellbeing at Trafford Council.
Before becoming president of the ADCS for 2023/24, Pearce was North East regional chair for the organisation and a member of the ADCS Council of Reference.
Pearce replaces outgoing president for 2022/23 Steve Crocker who is director of children’s services at Hampshire County Council and Isle of Wight Council.
In last blog as president, Crocker reflected on a presidency which saw five different Education Secretaries – including three during the ADCS’s annual three-day conference in July last year.
