East Midlands Councils’ Strategic Migration Partnership is taking an innovative and ambitious approach to their support for unaccompanied asylum-seeking children.

Led by the East Midlands Migration Board, the local authority partners have developed a strategic programme based on their shared experiences over recent years to build a strong existing regional partnership, working to provide greater regional efficiencies while maintaining flexibility for individual authorities.

One regional initiative is the funding of a specialist immigration solicitor who supports all 10 unitary and county authorities around legal advice, age assessments, no recourse to public fund issues and offers up-to-date training on new case law and immigration legislation.
