What did they do? Three Norwich schools have received the nationally recognised Excellence in Enterprise Education Award. Pupils and staff from Clare School, Sewell Park College and Woodside Pupil Referral Unit collected their awards from the High Sheriff of Norfolk Charles Barrett.

What are they doing? Drama lessons at Ricards Lodge High School in Wimbledon are going continental, as pupils use technology to communicate with their peers at College Colette Sartrouville in Paris. Pupils at both schools are being brought together to rehearse two plays by Shakespeare and Moliere.

What did it do? Hangleton Infants School has been working hard to turn itself around since failing its Ofsted inspection in 2000. Now the school is celebrating after being judged outstanding in a recent visit by the same inspector that criticised it 10 years ago.

The cost of childcare has continued to rise with prices for childminders, nurseries and after-school club provision increasing by 4.8 per cent, according to the Daycare Trust's annual survey.
