As a teenager, I felt I couldn't achieve anything. I doubted myself and my ability to live up to my family's expectations. My self-confidence was non-existent and I would find myself thinking the worst-case scenario for everyday decisions. This had a negative effect on my mental health.

I became involved with the national education charity Filmclub in 2011, when my teacher and I had the same idea of starting a club at our school. Eventually, we split it into two clubs: one for younger pupils, devised by my teacher, and one for the older year groups, which I devised.

I have been going to Westminster House Youth Club (WHYC) in Nunhead, south London, since I was eight and my dad used to go there when he was a boy. WHYC is celebrating its 125th anniversary this year.
