Since I gained my Mayor's Music Scholarship through Tower Hamlets arts and music education service, I've been treated like I'm special. At school, we're only allowed to play one instrument, but because of my scholarship, I was an exception and allowed to play two instruments - the cello and trumpet - because I played them both in primary school.

I didn't notice anything was wrong until February 2010, when I found a lump under my arm. I wasn't concerned, even though I had lost weight and felt tired. My GP told me I was just a tired teenager.

I became involved with the national education charity Filmclub in 2011, when my teacher and I had the same idea of starting a club at our school. Eventually, we split it into two clubs: one for younger pupils, devised by my teacher, and one for the older year groups, which I devised.

They say if you enjoy things, then you always do them better. Well, I didn't enjoy certain lessons at school and so it's no surprise I didn't pass those subjects.
