The group, chaired by former president of the Association of Directors of Children’s Services (ADCS) Alan Wood, will hold a virtual meeting this month after it was unable to do so during the lockdown.

Wood said he “hoped” that following the virtual meeting “the DfE will be able to tell us what they plan to do quite soon after” but highlighted that any proposed legislative changes would lead to a 21-day consultation period.

The expert group includes directors of children’s services and representatives from the ADCS, Ofsted and the Local Government Association among others.
