The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Award for Volunteering has been announced as a one-off addition to the annual Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service (QAVS), which was set up in 2012 to mark the golden jubilee.

It will highlight the work of national charities that “empower young people aged 16 to 25”, according to a government announcement.

A judging panel, consisting of civil society sector experts and youth representatives, includes UK Youth chief executive Ndidi Okezie, Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson and Lord Lieutenant of Belfast Fionnuala Jay O’Boyle.
