Guidance aimed at local authority children’s services, youth services, early years and education providers has been updated after restrictions including work from home guidance and the use of face coverings in schools were dropped this week (26 January).

CYP Now looks at how restrictions are changing where to find up to date guidance:

Social care

The ADCS has tracked and updated guidance for those working in children’s social care. A spreadsheet containing details of guidance is available here.

Education

Teachers in both mainstream and special schools and those working in further education have seen changes to guidance including the use of face coverings for all children in Year 7 and above and the reintroduction of funding to cover staffing reductions due to the pandemic.

The Department for Education has published updated guidance for mainstream schools here.

Guidance for those working in special schools is available here.

Early years settings

Guidance for early years providers and childminders has also been updated to include latest measures on travel and quarantine, face coverings, tracing close contacts and self-isolation.

Updated guidance for early years providers can be found here.

Out-of-school and holiday clubs

New guidance has been issued for providers of wraparound care, including breakfast and after-school clubs and holiday clubs, and parents and carers using such services.

Updates include information about isolation, vaccinations for under 18s and the use of face coverings for children over 11.

DfE guidance for providers is available here and guidance for parents and carers is available here

Youth work

The National Youth Agency (NYA) has released updated guidance for youth work providers in line with changes to latest government restrictions.

Key points in the updated guidance include:

  • Masks are now required for young people aged 11+ when indoors

  • Any international travel plans should be reviewed

  • Risk assessments should be reassessed and refreshed
