
The recommendation has been made by the London Assembly's health committee. It wants to see a capital wide campaign to encourage more people, in particular young men, to work in nurseries and other early years settings.
It says the move is needed after identifying skills gaps in early years settings in the capital as part of its investigation into the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on early years services and children’s early development.
Other recommendations made include researching the long-term impact of the health crisis on young children in London. This needs to focus on developmental delays, warns the committee.
