The guidance was released today (11 May), despite changes coming into force on 1 May, and is set to be reviewed “before 1 June”, the Department for Education states, however, the legislative changes will remain valid until 25 September.
How have the changes been made?
Some of the changes have been made by the government amending secondary legislation without using the Coronavirus Act. The Special Educational Needs and Disability (Coronavirus) (Amendment) Regulations 2020 was passed through parliament allowing the government to relax four sets of regulations that specify timescales applied to local authorities, health commissioning bodies and others responsible for creating, assessing and implementing EHC plans.
