Research shows children’s mental health services have reached a “tipping point”.

NHS data shows a record number of children are waiting for eating disorder treatment while The Children’s Society’s annual Good Childhood report found a steep increase in the number of children unhappy with their lives.

Appearance and school were cited as key reasons for children’s unhappiness in the Good Childhood report. 

With schools set to return following disruption over two academic years, experts have warned over a further increase in anxiety. 

Head of counselling at Mable Therapy, Helen Spiers, a specialist child and adolescent counsellor, recommends parents develop a strong routine with their children as the new school year begins as well as keeping a check on their own mental health.
