Innovative schemes to support children’s mental health and wellbeing

Charities, NHS trusts and volunteers across the UK are going above and beyond to offer services to improve young people’s mental health and wellbeing during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

A recent report by the Association of Directors of Children’s Services (ADCS) found that councils are reporting a marked increase in parents electing to home school their children, with Covid-19 related mental health concerns cited as a key factor.

Meanwhile, statistics from Health Education England reveal that NHS mental health services are looking after more children and young people than ever before with more than 420,000 treated in 2020/21 - an increase of almost 100,000 compared with 2017/18.
