Childline, the counselling service run by the NSPCC, hears from thousands of children each year who are struggling with feelings of loneliness.

It is one of the top mental and emotional health topics our trained counsellors support young people with.

Over the past few years, children have faced many challenges and for some, these experiences have heightened feelings of loneliness.

The Covid-19 pandemic had a huge impact on children and left many feeling lonely as they were cut off from their friends, family, and wider support networks for months on end.

During the pandemic, the service saw a spike in demand for counselling on this issue, delivering 6,000 sessions. While the crisis is now behind us, we know many children are still feeling the impact.
