The month-long survey consisted of 10 questions and was completed by 603 school leaders and governors. It was carried out to gauge reaction to measures in ‘Transforming Children and Young People's Mental Health Provision: a Green Paper' which outlines what the government wants to do to help children and young people with their mental health.
Background
In January 2016, the Children's Commissioner for England, Anne Longfield, called for all schools to provide counselling for pupils. She said that, in a consultation she held with children about access to mental health services, they had told her that they were most comfortable about going to someone in schools, rather than their GP.
