The delegation from the Malaysian Youth Association met members of the NYA project team to hear about how their work actively promotes young people's voice and influence in society.
The Malaysian Youth Association has over four million young people in membership, governed by a formal election process recognised by parliament. It operates a federated structure based on local youth organisations, representatives of the diverse geographical regions, religions and general interests, each meeting to share and discuss common issues and concerns.
The tour of Europe provided the delegation with the opportunity to hear more about various funding mechanisms for delivering youth services and how different countries approach youth participation.
Jon Boagey, National Youth Agency operations director, said: "It is really important to learn from and share with other countries different approaches to youth work and young people's participation.
"The Malaysian Youth Council was particularly interested in improving their knowledge about different funding arrangements - exemplifying that funding for the sector is not just an issue within the UK at the moment."
