NCB Now: Young people call for say in health

Young delegates from a recent NCB workshop on the public health white paper have told the government to keep on listening to their experiences and opinions in order to make the most positive changes for young people in England.

The workshop brought together 17 11- to 18-year-olds and was the third young people's health event to be held by NCB.

After a session looking at the background to public health in England the delegates learned about the government's public health white paper. They discussed how the key proposals could affect them and other young people and identified ways to share the information with their peers and adults.

A representative from the Department of Health attended the event and was impressed with the delegates' contributions, especially when designing advertising campaigns for different public health areas.

A report, containing all of the ideas and quotes from the day, co-authored by the delegates, has been sent to the Department of Health as a response to the national consultation process.
