Significantly, 97 per cent support and understand that children learn best through play, with nearly all mums reporting that there are lots of play opportunities for their children at their settings. The survey found that 91 per cent of respondents asked said their child had an identified key person or named worker and of those, 69 per cent reported receiving regular updates on the progress of their child, demonstrating that the EYFS, in general has led to more communication with parents.
Sue Owen, director of wellbeing at NCB, said: "As the review of the EYFS continues, it is very encouraging to see that the majority of those surveyed know and support the EYFS with a good understanding that its key focus is on children's learning and development. It is great to see that parents report a good level of communication from the settings their children attend, but there is still room for improvement."
