Negative press reports about young men are creating a culture of fear, according to a study published last week by campaign group Women in Journalism. Neil Puffett asks a selection of media experts and young people about what needs to change.

EVE POLLARD, FORMER EDITOR, SUNDAY MIRROR AND SUNDAY EXPRESS

"National newspapers are not really positive about anything - they report the unusual and the shocking. The use of terms such as 'yobs' won't change - it is just the way they write about things. ARIF, 17

"Stereotyping of young men is pretty bad but it is like stereotyping of any other group really. I'm not really concerned about it. Newspapers will move onto something else next. I don't think we can do anything about it - it's just the way it is, the media against certain sections of society. It is all just a phase. They will find someone else to pick on next."
