The strategy, which aims to help young people take part in positiveactivities in their free time, includes more support for youth clubs and"coming-of-age ceremonies" to mark transition into adulthood. It alsosaid youth offending teams should pool 10 per cent of preventativebudgets with youth support services.
Sir Al Aynsley-Green, Children's Commissioner for England, said theplan, entitled Aiming High for Young People, showed that Government "hasreally listened to what young people have been saying".
Welcoming the proposals, Clare Tickell, chief executive at the charityNCH, urged the Government to engage with young people to ensure it isproviding the services they want. "Any proposals need to be accessibleto the most vulnerable, because often their needs are overlooked, yetthey stand to gain the most," she said.
