Youth stereotypes: Teens challenge hoodies myth

Teenagers at Murdishaw Youth Club in Runcorn, Cheshire, have launched a campaign to promote the positive contribution young people play locally.

The first stage of the campaign comprises three posters aimed to challenge the negative stereotypes of hoodies and inspire young people and adults to make their communities safe and great places to live.

Adam, 14, who attends the centre, said: "I do wear a hoodie, but I am also a young leader and help to manage the youth gym. People need to get to know the person behind the hood."
