Youth services: Lancashire plans to restructure services

1 min read

Clive Grunshaw, cabinet member for Lancashire County Council, said: "The bill sets out a duty for all partners to co-operate in service provision. Lancashire is a large county and although we provide far more services than we used to, access varies greatly." The council hopes to integrate the management of its services for young people up to the age of 19, starting with education and social services, and bringing in youth services and youth offending teams at a later date.

From June, officers from the education and social services directorates working with children and young families will work together. Staff, partner agencies and children and families will feed back to the council, with a view to integrating services by April 2006.
