Merton Sense has provided writing, editing and desktop publishing opportunities for around 50 young people in the south London borough.
The 40-page, full-colour magazine, which is distributed to 5,000 people, includes articles on crime, music and drugs.
Eli Anderson, former principal youth officer at Merton Youth Service, was instrumental in establishing the magazine 18 months ago. But since his departure by mutual consent, support for the publication has been withdrawn. Karen Hutchinson, acting head of Merton Youth Service, said the 18,000 allocated to the magazine last year had been found from an overspend.
"It was never funded out of core budget," said Hutchinson. "We were asked to make savings this year and it was one of the things we couldn't fund.
