Mission: To introduce young offenders to activities as an alternative to drug taking

Funding: 6,000 from the prison budget

For many young offenders, dealing with their drug taking is critical to reducing the chances of them reoffending.

The problem can be addressed in prison, but once a young person is released it is easy for them to slip back into their old habits.

Alternative High, a programme that was recently run at Hindley Young Offender Institution, aims to address this by showing young people alternative activities to drug taking.

The course consisted of half-day sessions, once a week, for eight weeks.
