The idea is being supervised by Ian Joseph, director of Action Research Consultants, who has gained experience from his work around gang issues during the past four years. He hopes to set up a network of several like-minded projects to share best practice, and also improve the co-operation between voluntary and statutory agencies, such as the police and antisocial behaviour teams.
The network will be launched at three conferences: on 18 May in Manchester, 26 May in Birmingham, and 1 June in London.
Action Research Consultants recently completed a report for the Youth Justice Board on gang activity, which has yet to be published. Joseph said there are a number of issues for members of the network to address.
