Youth justice: Community order plans set out

The youth rehabilitation order will replace existing community orders for under-18s, and will be made up of a menu of interventions. Sentencers will be able to choose from the menu to construct the sentence thought most likely to prevent reoffending.

The Ministry of Justice has published the plans in a criminal justice and immigration bill. The youth justice proposals are similar to those in a draft youth justice bill circulated in 2005.
