John Fassenfelt, chair of the Youth Courts Committee of the association, met David Behan, the chief inspector of the commission, last week.
His committee is concerned about the high number of looked-after young people who end up in trouble with the police. It feels this is partly the result of care home staff calling the police for relatively minor incidents, and says this is not highlighted in commission reports.
Behan said this is because it can only inspect against minimum standards, which do not pick up the problem. Fassenfelt, said: We need to push for higher minimum standards for staff in care homes. And we will push for funding for managers for restorative justice training.
