Youth groups unite against violence

1 min read Youth Justice Youth Work
A coalition of youth organisations in south London has been set up to co-ordinate efforts to combat knife and gun crime.

Called Enough! Make Youth Violence History, the group involves organisations including Boyhood to Manhood, Blackfriars Settlement, SE1 United and Sports Action Zone.

The coalition aims to increase the involvement of charities in anti-crime schemes, lobby central government for funding and provide advice to community groups on gaining funding for anti-crime projects.

A specific campaign for the group will be around the Dormant Bank and Building Society Accounts Bill, which is set to become law later this year and proposes to use unclaimed money in bank accounts for youth projects. The group wants to ensure part of this money is channelled into anti-violence initiatives.
