Youth Facilities: Hull seeks money for learning zone

Hull City Council is looking to raise another 10,000 to create a learning zone for young people in the Ings area of the city.

The Learn-Ings Zone will be a dedicated area of the refurbished Ings Customer Service Centre, which is due to reopen next month. The zone will give local teenagers access to educational resources as well as somewhere to meet socially.

So far more than £15,000 has been pledged to help pay for the zone but the council is hoping to raise another £10,000 from local businesses and other funders.

Councillor Mike Ross, cabinet portfolio holder for lifelong learning, said: "By providing young people with a safe environment to meet, socialise and study, we hope to address a number of key issues, such as literacy levels."
