YOUTH FACILITIES: Bank to be turned into club in Norwich

1 min read

Graham Dacre is a trustee of the Lind Trust, which in January paid 2.5m for a former bank in the city centre. The trust is now trying to secure 3m start-up funding from the Eastern Development Agency and the Community Fund. Commercial offices in the bank's vaults will create revenue for the centre.

Dacre aims to bring all youth agencies in Norwich under one roof at the 2,300m2 site. "It's an absolute palace," said Dacre. "We want it to be the best youth venue in the country." The centre will be principally for 13- to 25-year-olds. It will have shop fronts for youth workers, a health centre and leisure facilities such as an events hall, coffee bars, a cyber cafe, a gym and an alcohol- and drug-free nightclub. Young people will also be involved in running the centre.
