Another head teacher heard that some students were giving a demonstration in front of other young people. When he found out the names of those involved, he went to check it was true and not a wind-up.
The anecdotes come from Rachael Anderton, director of development and communication at Young Enterprise, an organisation that aims to teach business skills to young people. Such stories are not, perhaps, unusual to youth workers. Drawing out qualities of young people that teachers and formal schooling fail to recognise is one of the things youth work does.What is unusual is that the young people demonstrating previously hidden talents were running their own small enterprises.
