Youth discount card could harm funding

At a meeting between youth work representatives and the Department for Education and Skills last week, officials refused to say if the discount card would be in the green paper, but one source said: "There was a recognition that if that happened then there is a risk that resources would be directed away from services on the ground."

The card would give young people discounted or free access to activities as part of the Places to go, things to do strand of the green paper.
