Young mums go back to college

Youth Work
A group of young mums from Wigan have taken steps to get back into learning and employment by taking part in an intensive first-aid course.

The young women attended the course at Ince Community Centre in Wigan last month. They learned basic first aid in three days, and took an enhancement course to study delivering first aid to children. The course was provided by Connexions, Wigan youth service and training provider Training2All.

All of the women passed the course and many are now attending college.

Connexions personal adviser Julie Bebe said: "We wanted to raise the young mums' awareness of first aid around children and make them more employable. The course involved really long days and with a small child in tow that can be difficult, but the girls were fantastic."
