YMCA helps young with festival jobs

Youth Work
Unemployed young people in Leicester have been given the chance to work at a comedy festival thanks to an initiative led by the local YMCA.

The Y, the arts arm of the YMCA, started its new customer service training course in January and young people were given the opportunity to assist at the festival, which took place between 6 and 15 February.

The six-week course allowed young people to gain a customer service NVQ alongside training in health and safety, food hygiene and interview preparation, before getting a chance to work at the festival.
