YJB teams up with youth club network

1 min read Youth Justice
Youth centres and youth offending teams (YOTs) are to work more closely following a deal struck by Clubs for Young People and the Youth Justice Board.

The agreement between the two organisations aims to help YOTs and voluntary services work together by devising shared objectives.

Through national and local co-operation, both organisations want to promote better outcomes for young people in areas such as crime prevention and reduction of reoffending. The deal also aims to improve young offenders' access to mainstream services and meet the five Every Child Matters outcomes.

Simon Antrobus, chief executive of Clubs for Young People, said: "Collaborative approaches such as this are an exciting step in our efforts to provide new and alternative opportunities for all young people."

Ellie Roy, outgoing chief executive of the YJB, said engaging young people rather than excluding them helps them achieve positive outcomes and deters them from crime.
