Weekend working prompts training

Youth Work
A leading youth organisation is offering safety training to youth workers who work weekends to help them cope with teenagers who get drunk or high on drugs.

UK Youth will be running personal safety workshops in Liverpool and London next month in response to the government's drive to provide more activities for young people on Friday and Saturday nights.

Some youth workers have expressed fears about having to work with teenagers who are under the influence of drugs or alcohol and have called for additional training. The course will cover assessing risk, safety planning and strategies to help diffuse difficult situations.
