Yes, but it depends how it works and where the money comes from. Everyone agrees that deprived pupils should continue to be funded at a higher level than others. The question is, how?
ATL supports the present system, but we agree there should be more pressure to ensure "deprivation money" reaches schools fairly. The Institute for Fiscal Studies showed that a national premium would make many schools worse off.
ATL welcomes more money for schools and colleges, but where would it come from? ATL would say, not from the benefits system.
