Here we have another illogical conclusion and further failure to appreciate precisely what youth work is, and its worth in being able to engage young people. But it is why this engagement happens that is most important. Youth workers are committed to voluntary association, negotiation and dialogue. The youth work ethic is to always take a positive view of young people and the groups they associate with. Our methods are based on emphasising the pro-social capacities of these groups, rather than fearing antisocial dimensions. We never seek to drive a wedge between different groups of people.
