Penny Nicholls, director of children and young people, The Children's Society
In many ways children in the UK have never lived so well, and most describe themselves as happy. Yet, as the Good Childhood Inquiry emphasised, in some ways children's lives in the UK are more difficult than they should be.
We can learn from our European neighbours in improving children's lives - other countries do far better in tackling child poverty and giving school-leavers better opportunities.
Children emphasise the importance of family, and families need more support. We need to listen more to children about their own wellbeing.
