Voluntary sector: Essex to use Kids Company model

Young people in deprived areas of Essex will be the focus of a new charity set to become the first full replication of Kids Company.

Teacher and counsellor Sue Jochim is modelling Kids Inspire, Chelmsford on London-based Kids Company to follow its therapeutic approach to supporting vulnerable young people and tackling delinquent behaviour.

"On the outside Chelmsford looks like an affluent place but there are real pockets of deprivation, but because it doesn't hit the Richter scale it gets ignored for funding," she said.
