University given care leaver award

Social Care
Nottingham Trent University has received an award for the support it gives to care leavers on its courses.

The university has been awarded the Quality Mark for Higher Education from The Frank Buttle Trust for using staff and resources to encourage looked-after young people.

Louisa Hare, student support officer for care leavers at the university, said: "We offer practical help in dealing with issues like paperwork, applications or transport, as well as wider guidance and support throughout their university life.

Many care leavers don't have the means to move their belongings from a non-term time address into their student residence, but we can help overcome that."
