The organisation hopes that the application, made to Chichester District Council, will end a long-running dispute over usage of its Park Farm land in Lurgashall for camping activities, if it is approved.
Since last year, the Woodcraft Folk has been prevented from using the land for camping (YPN, 16-22 August 2006, p5) after the local parish council complained on behalf of local residents.
Chris Pyke, acting general secretary of the Woodcraft Folk, said: "This is having an impact on our groups in London and Sussex and potentially several hundred young people are having to find alternative places to go."
Stewart Hunter, vice-chair of the Woodcraft Folk, said: "The Lurgashall land is used by inner-city young people from south London who otherwise might not be able to experience the countryside. We don't feel that young people's views have been taken into account by the Government and local authority."
