A spokesman for the company said they "didn't know" why the licence wassuspended, but claimed it was a voluntary decision.
However, at a meeting of Horsham District Council's licensing committeelast Friday (10 August) an application for the review of the licence,made by Sussex Police, was considered.
Sussex Police made the application following two failed test purchasesof alcohol by underage people at the store in 2006. Despite the companyagreeing an action plan to prevent underage sales happening again, itfailed a subsequent test purchase in May 2007.
A spokesman for the council said: "The decision of the committee was touphold the review and impose a seven-day suspension of the licence. Inaddition, 11 conditions have been added to the licence around the saleof alcohol."
