The trust told CYP Now it plans to explore the possibility of using more up-to-date technology in school kitchens, including faster cookers.
The plans are part of a bid by the trust to combat the global rise in the cost of food, which is pushing up the price of school meals.
Other measures include a pilot scheme that will offer pupils a choice of just vegetarian or meat options for lunch, in an attempt to reduce food wastage.
A School Food Trust spokeswoman also said intelligent procurement can help reduce the cost of school meals. She said the trust's School Feast Training Centres teach the principles of efficient purchasing to professionals who provide school meals.
