
The scheme, designed to enhance the skills and integration of professionals working with young people, has also signed up a further 2,500 managers, along with 150 middle managers, who will receive training to help them step into senior leadership roles.
The programme is one of three strands of reforms commissioned by the Department for Children, Schools and Families as part of the Aiming High for Young People strategy and the 2020 Children and Young People's Workforce Strategy.
Children's minister Dawn Primarolo was set to launch the full programme this week following a series of consultation events over the summer.
Kim Bromley-Derry, president of the Association of Directors of Children's Services, said: "Developing the skills and confidence of professionals working with young people will be vital to engage young people in activities that interest and engage them."
